About Us:

Our Staff

Herman: Herman has been with Westgate Optical for over 25 years, and serves as General Manager. He received a B.S. degree from East Stroudsburg University and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC). He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Opticianry (FAAO). Each March, Herman attends the International Vision Expo in New York City, and returns with the latest advances in lens technology and world-wide frame trends. At Westgate Optical, we have the ability to handle many hard-to-fill prescriptions and custom glasses orders; please see Herman directly to coordinate these services.

Brenda: Brenda has been with Westgate Optical for over 19 years. Her specialty is frame fitting based on face shape and complimentary color. Brenda's goal is for each customer to find the best and most flattering frame for his or her features. "It's very fulfilling to see people smiling when they see themselves in their new eyewear--knowing that they look their best."

Chris: Chris has been crafting quality custom eyewear at Westgate Optical since 1986, and has served as Lab Manager since 1993. Most glasses purchased at Westgate Optical are made by Chris here in our own lab. Recently, Chris has been researching customized tints for our new prescription sunglass collection. Chris's goal is to provide exceptional customer service with an emphasis on style and fit.

Rod: Rod is Sales Manager at Westgate Optical and is in charge of our seasonal displays. He is also a contributor toward our annual sales and promotional campaigns. Rod has over 16 years of sales experience, 8 in the optical industry. Rod's goal is to provide quality products in a friendly and helpful atmosphere.

Dr. Spering: Mark Spering, O.D. has been associated with Westgate Optical since 1999. Previously, Dr. Spering had been director of the contact lens service at Lehigh Valley Center for Sight and Allentown Eye Associates. Dr. Spering recently served as President of the Lehigh Valley Optometric Society and is currently the liaison for the Pennsylvania Optometric Association for School Nurse Vision Screening Regulations. Dr. Spering is a Beta Sigma Kappa honor society graduate of Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1994. At graduation, he received an award from the alumni association for outstanding academic achievement. Since then, he has been named to Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare in 1999-2000 and 2002-2003.

Dr. Spering attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate studies. At Westgate Optical, Dr. Spering provides comprehensive eye care, custom contact lens fitting and design, and computerized glaucoma detection and treatment. In addition, Dr. Spering coordinates care for LASIK and other laser vision services both locally and regionally. Dr. Spering sees patients by appointment Monday through Thursday, and most Saturdays.
